What is the UEC?
The Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) is the qualification issued by Chinese independent high schools in Malaysia. It is administered by the United Chinese School Committees' Association of Malaysia (UCSCAM) and recognised by universities in Taiwan, China, Singapore and many other countries.
Is UEC recognised by Malaysian public universities?
As of 2026, Malaysian public universities do not formally recognise UEC for entry. However, many Malaysian private universities and international universities in Singapore, Australia and the UK do accept it.
What subjects does UEC cover?
UEC covers a full secondary school curriculum including Chinese, English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Sciences, History and electives. The senior UEC is taken after Form 5.
