What does SPM Physics cover?
SPM Physics covers force and motion, momentum, force and pressure, heat, light, waves, electricity, electromagnetism, electronics and nuclear physics across Forms 4 and 5.
Does SPM Physics have a practical exam?
Yes — SPM Physics Paper 3 is a practical-based paper where students analyse data from experiments, draw and interpret graphs, and evaluate experimental design. Tutors specifically prepare students for the types of practical questions that appear in Paper 3.
Is SPM Physics harder than SPM Chemistry?
Both are demanding. SPM Physics requires more mathematical calculation and graph interpretation; SPM Chemistry requires more memorisation of reactions and mechanisms. Students who prefer applied maths tend to do better in Physics; students who are systematic memorisers tend to do better in Chemistry.
What grade do I need in SPM Physics for engineering?
For A-Level physics or engineering foundation programmes, most colleges require a minimum of Grade B (Credit) in SPM Physics. Grade A is competitive for direct entry to engineering foundation at top colleges like Taylor's and Sunway.
