What is IB Maths AI?
IB Maths Applications & Interpretation (AI) is the applied, statistics-focused IB Maths course. It uses technology extensively and covers statistical analysis, probability distributions, modelling and some calculus. Better suited for students heading to Biology, Psychology, Social Sciences or Business degrees.
Is IB Maths AI HL accepted by universities for science degrees?
It depends on the university and programme. Some programmes (including some Engineering programmes) specifically require AA HL. AI HL is generally accepted for Social Sciences, Business and some Life Sciences. Always check specific university requirements before choosing AI over AA.
What GDC is allowed in IB Maths AI?
A graphing display calculator (GDC) is permitted in all AI papers including Paper 1, unlike AA where Paper 1 is GDC-free. The TI-84 and Casio fx-CG50 are the most commonly used.
