AP Calculus AB & BC — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AP Calculus AB and BC?
AP Calculus AB covers one semester of university calculus — limits, derivatives and integrals. AP Calculus BC covers two semesters — everything in AB plus sequences and series, parametric equations and polar coordinates. BC includes an AB subscore, so students can earn credit for AB concepts even if they take BC.
What score is needed for university credit in AP Calculus?
Most universities award credit for AP Calculus BC with a score of 4 or 5. For AB, a 4 or 5 typically earns credit at many (but not all) universities. Highly selective universities may require a 5 for credit. Check individual university AP credit policies.
Is AP Calculus BC available in Malaysia?
AP exams can be taken at authorised AP testing centres. Some international schools in Malaysia administer AP exams. Students can also self-study and register as private AP candidates at approved centres.
